Although not compulsory, ideally you would have achieved GCSEs in English and Maths. When you join our academy you will continue to receive support with your English and Maths, whatever grades you have achieved. We aspire that all our learners work towards improving their English and Maths whilst attending their course with us.
If you are completing work experience on a traineeship then you will be reimbursed for expenses and employers are encouraged to pay for your lunches. If you are completing an apprenticeship then you will be employed and paid at least the minimum apprenticeship wage.
If you are completing a Study or Adult Programme you will not be paid to train.
If you are completing a study or adult programme you will require an equipment pack that will cost around £150. If you are an apprentice equipment is provided at college but you are encouraged to also purchase your own kit.
Earn while you learn
Apprenticeships are 'on the job' training and, as such, you are also an employee. As an employee, you are entitled to a salary which means you earn while you learn and you are not accruing any student debts. As an Apprentice you will receive a minimum wage of £3.40 per hour (rising to £3.50 per hour in April 2017) if you are under 19 or over 19 and in the first year of your Apprenticeship. From the second year of your Apprenticeship, you are entitled to receive the full minimum wage rate. You can check the current, minimum wage rate by CLICKING HERE.
